I assume it because the Dreamcast is using DVD-ROM, which is more of a universal format, meaning that it more easier to load custom disc to Dreamcast. Is that right?

In any case, I am curious how you managed to pull it off

Nah, the Dreamcast sadly doesn't use DVD-ROM because Sega were cheap asses who didn't want to give Sony money. Man, if they had bundled a VCD remote with the system, we'd all have fond memories of Sega systems and VCDs rather than DVDs.

But it uses GD-ROM, their own stupid format: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GD-ROM

The magic of getting it on there was done by @alsoknownas1 who is getting deep into Dreamcast homebrew. The Dreamcast can read CD-Rs, but they can't be a 1GB like GD-ROM.
